Logan playing outside

Logan loves being outdoors...but he wants to be free to go where he wants.  No carrying him, no sticking him in a swing, no containment of any kind please.  This child wants to roam about on his own two feet! So today I just followed him around the yard without any agenda of my own.  I only stopped him from eating flowers, grass, dirt, etc.  Well, I mostly stopped him from eating those things.  Check out the last photo and see why I say mostly

Logan loves to pick a marigold every time he walks by this pot!

Going under the Rose of Sharon

He so badly wants to climb up here like Daniel does!

Smelling the geraniums (and maybe tasting them too!)

Whoops!  Here is where Mommy failed to stop him in time!

First Day of Kindergarten!

Let the fun begin!  Daniel is starting kindergarten!!!  After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to homeschool, and we could not be more excited.  Here is a photo of Daniel on his first day of school.

And here is a photo of Daniel with his teacher on the first day of school.  I heard she is really good, teehee!

And mainly for my future reference, here is the list of our curriculum we will be doing this year.
  • Bible, History, Geography, Science, Language Arts, and Read Alouds from the Sonlight A curriculum.
  • Handwriting without Tears K
  • Horizons Math K
  • Extracurricular activities include Friends and Family night at the Baptist church, Library time for K-2nd graders, and Gymnastics lessons with his good friend Landon.
Daniel is super excited about the read aloud books we have on our schedule and about doing science experiments with his Daddy.  I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for us this year.  Let the adventure begin!

Mama's Jewelry

Did you know that even macho little boys like to play with their mama's jewelry?  They do!  Or in Logan's case, they like to eat it!

Logan Turns One

Logan's first birthday was in early July, and we planned to have a big party for him.  I had bought all sorts of red, white, and blue decorations to have an "All-American Baby" birthday party.  Well, what we had planned did not exactly happen.  Instead of celebrating his birthday with a party, we celebrated his precious life in a hospital room.  Logan stopped breathing for about 30-45 seconds early on the morning before his birthday.  That time seemed like an eternity as we struggled to revive him.  It was absolutely terrifying.  We spent the rest of that night in the ER, and we were admitted to the hospital the next day (Logan's birthday) for observation.  All the many tests the doctors have done returned normal.  Praise the Lord! We are so thankful for this little boy and the joy of his life here with us.

Over the past few weeks, we have celebrated Logan's birthday on several occasions.  Here are some photos of Logan with his family...though this was not what we had planned, our joy was perhaps even greater during these celebrations than it would have been otherwise.  Thank you, Lord, for our precious son!  Happy first birthday, Logan.  We love you, baby brown eyes.

Mama's Best Kitchen Helper

Did you know strainers make excellent hats?  Daniel has long been aware of this, and Logan is already discovering it too.  When I was a little girl, I sat in my mama's strainer and spun around, causing it to break.  So, really, wearing a strainer as a hat is a much preferable use.
