Getting bigger

Our baby boy continues to grow and so do I! The due date is approaching quickly, and we are excitedly preparing our hearts and homes for his arrival. There is much joy ahead!
For this child I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition which I asked of Him.

Happy Easter!

At last count, I think Daniel participated in seven Easter egg hunts this year. It seemed like every organization that we are part of decided to hold one. Of course, he enjoyed all of them!

Our church holds an annual Easter carnival, and Mom and I volunteered for the storytelling station. We did a puppet show about the real meaning of Easter. It was fun! (That's Mom behind the red curtain!)

We celebrated Easter day at Grandpa Johnnie and Grandma Irma's house.

Thank you, Lord, for all these blessings you have given us, and most of all, for the gift of Your Son whose death and resurrection we celebrate today.

Crazy weather

After an unusually mild winter, it seems spring has sprung! Who would believe that April 1st would bring 90 degree weather, causing us to hook up the sprinkler and unearth the swimming trunks? I am a little worried about the heat that may come this summer, especially since I will be very pregnant by then!

Lovin' those morels

Brian's patience and perseverance as a mushroom hunter has finally paid off! This week he and Daniel found about three dozen morels. We dipped them in flour and fried them in butter. Yum, yum, yum! We had my parents over to enjoy them too, and everyone agreed they were delicious!

Kansas Wildlifer

A few weeks ago, Daniel and Brian attended a hunting and fishing expo at the mall. They had a blast and came home excited about the Kansas Wildlifer program. This program challenges kids to complete at least 15 tasks, all of which involve getting outside and getting into nature. Some of the tasks are things such as hike a trail, wet a line, or plant a tree. Daniel is well on his way to getting his 15 challenges completed. We managed to do several of them this weekend when we went fishing and cooked supper over a bonfire up on the hill. Here are some photos!

The beloved toad

Daniel has played with this toad nonstop for several days. I am sure the toad has gotten more human affection than he ever wanted. We make Daniel release the toad in the rock garden every night, but he manages to find it again every day. They are quite the pair!
